Introducing Chilewich Studio

Chilewich Studio is a new series of limited editions available exclusively through chilewich.com and the Chilewich Store. Each edition is developed by an individual designer in our New York City studio and made in the United States using our signature TerraStrand yarns. The series debuts with Freehand, a printed placemat designed by creative director Sandy Chilewich in four vibrant color combinations that are infused with the spirit of summer: Parrot, Pool, Salsa, and Watermelon.

“Chilewich Studio gives us the opportunity to offer special pieces outside of our seasonal collections,” says Sandy. “Freehand began as a collage. I cut up rectangles and squares of brightly colored material and then arranged them at slight angles. At first glance, the design seems to provide order, with instructions on what to put where. In reality, objects will fall outside and between the lines, creating a graphic dynamic. Nothing fits perfectly, yet there is harmony.”

Freehand placemats are available in limited quantities, while supplies last. Durable and easy to wipe clean, they will retain their rich colors and refined look over many years of use, indoors or out.
