William Morris Table Runner

$100.00

Special edition developed in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Inspired by William Morris’s (British, 1834–1896) Violet and Columbine, a textile design registered in 1883, this table runner was developed through contemporary weaving techniques with a nod to traditional craftsmanship. Sketching and digital rendering in the Chilewich design studio helped translate the inspiration into a modern woven structure, bringing new functionality to its organic forms, rich colors, and complex pattern repeats.

About the original, in the Met's permanent collection: With its lush, stylized flora, Violet and Columbine is sophisticated and ornamental in spirit. It exemplifies the ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement, which pioneered an artful approach to design and manufacturing that championed craftsmanship and thoughtful material selection. Morris, a key figure in the movement, believed that people should be surrounded by beautiful, well-made things—a tenet shared by our founder, Sandy Chilewich.

TO CLEAN: Simply wipe with soap, water and a soft sponge or cloth. Scrub stubborn stains with a soft bristle-brush and a bleach-based cleanser.
